China Life (Overseas) fully supported the world-class sports event “2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships”

To demonstrate our support for sports and local athletes, China Life Insurance (Overseas) Company Limited (“China Life (Overseas)”) has just acted as the “Official Sponsor” to sponsor 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. This event, held at the Hong Kong Velodrome during 12-16 April 2017, finished on a perfect note. 

UCI Track Cycling World Championships, trailing only the Olympic Games, has been regarded as one of the world’s highest ranking sporting events. Since the inception of this Championship, most of the events were hosted by different cities in Europe and North America, while only Japan (1990) and Hong Kong (2017) have won the bid to host this world-class event in Asia. Hence, Hong Kong is the second Asian city that has ever been awarded the honor to host UCI Track Cycling World Championships. It is also the largest track cycling event that Hong Kong has ever held. The championship attracted about 300 world-class cyclists from as many as 41 countries and regions to participate and compete for the highest symbol of cycling world championship - "Rainbow Jersey". 

In addition, 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships is recognized as an "M" Mark event by the government, and is considered as one of the major sports events to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). Thus, this event has not only engaged the attention of local and international media, but also attracted more than 12,000 spectators to visit Hong Kong Velodrome during this 5-day competition. This event has got the support from the Hongkongers, and it has gained support from heavyweight government officials who visited and cheered the athletes on the last day of the competition. Those included the Chief Executive-elect Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Chief Secretary for Administration Mr. Matthew Cheung Kin-chung and Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Department Ms. Michelle Li Mei-sheung.
